The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 416%. The volume of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, grape wine spirits exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 670% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Uzbekistan represented the main exporter of spirits obtained from distilled grape wine or grape marc in Central Asia, with the volume of exports amounting to X litres, which was near 50% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Kyrgyzstan (X litres) and Kazakhstan (X litres), together creating a 50% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Kazakhstan (with a CAGR of +34.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, grape wine spirits imports shrank to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports posted a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 52% against the previous year. Kazakhstan was the major importer of spirits obtained from distilled grape wine or grape marc in Central Asia, with the volume of imports accounting for X litres, which was near 80% of total imports in 2022. Kyrgyzstan (X litres) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Mongolia (X litres). All these countries together held approx. 16% share of total imports. Uzbekistan (X litres) followed a long way behind the leaders.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported spirits obtained from distilled grape wine or grape marc in Central Asia, comprising 74% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Mongolia ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Kyrgyzstan, with a 3.9% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Kazakhstan stood at +9.2%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Mongolia (+18.2% per year) and Kyrgyzstan (-2.0% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in Central Asia amounted to $X per litre, with a decrease of -22.2% against the previous year. Import price indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, grape wine spirits import price increased by +41.9% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 82% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per litre, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mongolia ($X per litre), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
