In value terms, plastic support exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 57%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Kazakhstan was the major exporter of spools, cops and similar supports of plastics in Central Asia, with the volume of exports recording X tons, which was approx. 85% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X tons), mixing up a 12% share of total exports. Turkmenistan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Kazakhstan increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Turkmenistan (+71.0%) and Uzbekistan (+54.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Turkmenistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +71.0% from 2012-2022. In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the largest plastic support supplier in Central Asia, comprising 80% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 16% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Kazakhstan totaled +6.6%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uzbekistan (+61.9% per year) and Turkmenistan (+52.3% per year).

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +38.1% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, plastic support imports surged to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +81.3% against 2015 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 27%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In 2022, Kazakhstan (X tons), distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X tons), Kyrgyzstan (X tons), Mongolia (X tons) and Turkmenistan (X tons) were the major importers of spools, cops and similar supports of plastics, together mixing up 96% of total imports. Tajikistan (X tons) took a relatively small share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Uzbekistan (with a CAGR of +18.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X), Uzbekistan ($X) and Mongolia ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 85% share of total imports.

In 2022, the import price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -6.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the import price increased by 24% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mongolia ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
