Hand Stamp Market Size in Central Asia

The Central Asian hand stamp market expanded modestly to $X in 2022, picking up by 3.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption, however, saw a perceptible curtailment. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, overseas shipments of stamps for use in the hand decreased by -17.4% to X units, falling for the second year in a row after three years of growth. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 411% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, hand stamp exports rose markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 366%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, Kazakhstan (X units) was the key exporter of stamps for use in the hand, achieving 75% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Tajikistan (X units), achieving a 21% share of total exports. Uzbekistan (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Kazakhstan increased at an average annual rate of +46.7% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+740.0%) and Tajikistan (+60.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +740.0% from 2012-2022. In value terms, Tajikistan ($X), Kazakhstan ($X) and Uzbekistan ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together accounting for 99% of total exports.

Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +3,125.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Central Asia stood at $X per unit in 2022, growing by 33% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the export price increased by 54%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per unit), while Kazakhstan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+282.7%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Central Asia

Hand stamp imports rose markedly to X units in 2022, picking up by 8.9% against the year before. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate mild growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 1,472% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, hand stamp imports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 867% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Kazakhstan was the main importer of stamps for use in the hand in Central Asia, with the volume of imports finishing at X units, which was near 73% of total imports in 2022. Turkmenistan (X units) took an 11% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Uzbekistan (7.7%). Tajikistan (X units) and Kyrgyzstan (X units) took a minor share of total imports.

Kazakhstan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of stamps for use in the hand. At the same time, Tajikistan (+17.7%) and Turkmenistan (+9.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Tajikistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +17.7% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Uzbekistan (-2.6%) and Kyrgyzstan (-3.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Uzbekistan (+7.7 p.p.), Turkmenistan (+5.7 p.p.) and Tajikistan (+3.4 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan saw its share reduced by -1.6% and -12.3% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported stamps for use in the hand in Central Asia, comprising 77% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkmenistan ($X), with an 8.4% share of total imports. It was followed by Uzbekistan, with a 6.7% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Kazakhstan totaled -1.2%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkmenistan (+7.6% per year) and Uzbekistan (+3.5% per year).

The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per unit in 2022, jumping by 21% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a slight slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 84% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
