Exports in Central Asia
In 2021, shipments abroad of static converters was finally on the rise to reach X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, exports recorded significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 2,152%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, static converter exports declined significantly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports saw a perceptible increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 126% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

The shipments of the one major exporters of static converters, namely Kazakhstan, represented more than two-thirds of total export.
Kazakhstan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the static converters exports, with a CAGR of +27.0% from 2012 to 2021. Kazakhstan (+1.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) also remains the largest static converter supplier in Central Asia.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Kazakhstan totaled +2.8%.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Central Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, which is down by -57.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price faced a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 197%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Kazakhstan.
From 2012 to 2021, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Kazakhstan amounted to -19.0% per year.

Imports in Central Asia
After two years of decline, supplies from abroad of static converters increased by 99% to X units in 2021. In general, imports posted a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 313% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, static converter imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 44%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Kazakhstan prevails in imports structure, amounting to X units, which was near 81% of total imports in 2021. Uzbekistan (X units) took a 7.1% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Turkmenistan (5.7%) and Kyrgyzstan (5.5%).
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to static converter imports into Kazakhstan stood at +27.5%. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (+58.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kyrgyzstan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +58.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Turkmenistan (-1.2%) and Uzbekistan (-22.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan increased by +27, +7.1 and +5 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported static converters in Central Asia, comprising 78% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Uzbekistan ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkmenistan, with a 3.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Kazakhstan totaled +11.8%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uzbekistan (+15.9% per year) and Turkmenistan (-1.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Central Asia amounted to $X per unit, with a decrease of -38.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a deep setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the import price increased by 95%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per unit), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+50.0%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
