After four years of decline, overseas shipments of statuettes and other ornamental articles of plastic increased by 100% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 1,223%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, plastic ornamental articles exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, exports saw a prominent increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 1,062%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Uzbekistan (X tons) and Kazakhstan (X tons) dominates exports structure, together creating 94% of total exports. Turkmenistan (X tons) and Kyrgyzstan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Turkmenistan (with a CAGR of +75.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the largest plastic ornamental articles supplier in Central Asia, comprising 78% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by Turkmenistan, with a 5.4% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Kazakhstan totaled +16.7%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uzbekistan (-19.3% per year) and Turkmenistan (+57.2% per year).

The export price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, waning by -32.7% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when the export price increased by 282%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, plastic ornamental articles imports amounted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 34% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Kazakhstan (X tons) was the major importer of statuettes and other ornamental articles of plastic, constituting 50% of total imports. Kyrgyzstan (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 22% share, followed by Uzbekistan (13%), Mongolia (7%) and Tajikistan (4.8%). Turkmenistan (X tons) held a little share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to plastic ornamental articles imports into Kazakhstan stood at +10.0%. In value terms, the largest plastic ornamental articles importing markets in Central Asia were Kazakhstan ($X), Kyrgyzstan ($X) and Uzbekistan ($X), with a combined 89% share of total imports.
Among the main importing countries, Kyrgyzstan, with a CAGR of +35.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, rising by 7.7% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.4%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the import price increased by 20%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton), while Mongolia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
