Kazakhstan dominates exports structure, reaching X units, which was approx. 90% of total exports in 2022. The following exporters - Uzbekistan (X units) and Tajikistan (X units) - each accounted for an 8.4% share of total exports.

Exports from Kazakhstan increased at an average annual rate of +29.0% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+193.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +193.6% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Tajikistan (-15.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan increased by +68 and +4.3 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the largest data storage device supplier in Central Asia, comprising 91% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with an 8.3% share of total exports.

In Kazakhstan, data storage device exports increased at an average annual rate of +50.7% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Uzbekistan (+531.2% per year) and Tajikistan (-10.0% per year).

In value terms, data storage device imports soared to $X in 2022. In general, imports saw a noticeable expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 81% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

Kazakhstan was the main importing country with an import of around X units, which resulted at 56% of total imports. Kyrgyzstan (X units) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X units). All these countries together held near 41% share of total imports. Mongolia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to data storage device imports into Kazakhstan stood at -3.0%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+32.8%), Kyrgyzstan (+18.8%) and Mongolia (+9.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +32.8% from 2012-2022. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported data storage devices in Central Asia, comprising 65% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 22% share of total imports. It was followed by Kyrgyzstan, with a 6% share.

In Kazakhstan, data storage device imports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Uzbekistan (+23.9% per year) and Kyrgyzstan (+8.2% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per unit in 2022, waning by -31.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a tangible increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the import price increased by 79% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mongolia ($X per unit), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mongolia (+5.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
