Exports in Central Asia
In 2021, overseas shipments of straw or fodder balers, including pickup balers were finally on the rise to reach X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, exports recorded a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 560%. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, straw for fodder balers exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 339%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Kyrgyzstan dominates exports structure, accounting for X units, which was near 86% of total exports in 2021. Kazakhstan (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Tajikistan (X units). All these countries together held approx. 14% share of total exports.
Kyrgyzstan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the straw or fodder balers, including pickup balers exports, with a CAGR of +43.0% from 2012 to 2021. Kazakhstan (-7.4%) and Tajikistan (-14.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Kyrgyzstan (+66 p.p.) and Tajikistan (+6.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Kazakhstan saw its share reduced by -73.1% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In Kyrgyzstan, straw for fodder balers exports increased at an average annual rate of +51.4% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Tajikistan (-4.4% per year) and Kazakhstan (-5.2% per year).

In 2021, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per unit, shrinking by -3.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a mild shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the export price increased by 66%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Tajikistan ($X per unit), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, imports of straw or fodder balers, including pickup balers in Central Asia surged to X units, growing by 68% on the previous year. Total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, straw for fodder balers imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports posted a strong increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Kazakhstan prevails in imports structure, finishing at X units, which was approx. 74% of total imports in 2021. Mongolia (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 9.8% share, followed by Kyrgyzstan (8.5%). Uzbekistan (X units), Tajikistan (X units) and Turkmenistan (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Imports into Kazakhstan increased at an average annual rate of +6.8% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Mongolia (+35.8%), Kyrgyzstan (+9.2%) and Tajikistan (+2.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Mongolia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +35.8% from 2012-2021. Turkmenistan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Uzbekistan (-14.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Mongolia (+8.5 p.p.) and Uzbekistan (+4 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan saw its share reduced by -1.8% and -10.3% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported straw or fodder balers, including pickup balers in Central Asia, comprising 77% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Mongolia ($X), with an 8.9% share of total imports. It was followed by Uzbekistan, with a 7.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Kazakhstan stood at +7.9%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Mongolia (+29.0% per year) and Uzbekistan (-17.7% per year).

The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, increasing by 5.5% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.1%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the import price increased by 22%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per unit), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
