Non-Chicken Table Egg Market Size in Central Asia

The Central Asian non-chicken table egg market soared to $X in 2021, growing by 33% against the previous year. Overall, consumption, however, saw a mild decline. Over the period under review, the market reached the maximum level at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

Non-Chicken Table Egg Production in Central Asia

In value terms, non-chicken table egg production skyrocketed to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 67%. As a result, production attained the peak level of $X. From 2014 to 2021, production growth remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Uzbekistan (X tons) constituted the country with the largest volume of non-chicken table egg production, accounting for 60% of total volume. Moreover, non-chicken table egg production in Uzbekistan exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, Kazakhstan (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Turkmenistan (X tons), with a 12% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume in Uzbekistan totaled +5.1%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (-0.3% per year) and Turkmenistan (+0.4% per year).

Non-Chicken Table Egg Exports

Exports in Central Asia

In 2021, overseas shipments of table eggs, excluding hen eggs decreased by -67.9% to X tons for the first time since 2011, thus ending a nine-year rising trend. Overall, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 42% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2020, and then dropped rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, non-chicken table egg exports declined rapidly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded a pronounced decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2020, and then contracted sharply in the following year.

Exports by Country

Kazakhstan prevails in exports structure, reaching X tons, which was near 94% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Kyrgyzstan (X tons), making up a 6.1% share of total exports.

Kazakhstan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of table eggs, excluding hen eggs. Kyrgyzstan (-5.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Kyrgyzstan (+6.1 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Kazakhstan saw its share reduced by -6.1% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the largest non-chicken table egg supplier in Central Asia, comprising 94% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a 6.4% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Kazakhstan stood at -3.3%.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, surging by 26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a perceptible contraction. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan totaled $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kyrgyzstan (+9.5%).

Non-Chicken Table Egg Imports

Imports in Central Asia

In 2021, overseas purchases of table eggs, excluding hen eggs increased by 29% to X tons, rising for the third consecutive year after three years of decline. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 559%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, non-chicken table egg imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 576%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Kazakhstan (X tons) and Kyrgyzstan (X tons) were the major importers of table eggs, excluding hen eggs in 2021, accounting for near 46% and 34% of total imports, respectively. It was distantly followed by Mongolia (X tons), making up a 16% share of total imports. Tajikistan (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Mongolia (with a CAGR of +17.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

In value terms, the largest non-chicken table egg importing markets in Central Asia were Kazakhstan ($X), Kyrgyzstan ($X) and Mongolia ($X), with a combined 96% share of total imports.

Among the main importing countries, Kyrgyzstan, with a CAGR of +18.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 7.3% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.0%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the import price increased by 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in Mongolia ($X per ton) and Tajikistan ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan ($X per ton) and Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
