Kazakhstan dominates exports structure, resulting at X units, which was approx. 96% of total exports in 2022. Uzbekistan (X units) held a minor share of total exports.

Exports from Kazakhstan increased at an average annual rate of +30.8% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+44.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +44.0% from 2012-2022. While the share of Kazakhstan (+34 p.p.) and Uzbekistan (+1.9 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the largest container supplier in Central Asia, comprising 96% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 1.7% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Kazakhstan stood at +33.4%.

In 2022, Kazakhstan (X units) represented the key importer of tanks, casks, drums, cans, boxes and similar containers, comprising 72% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X units), achieving an 18% share of total imports. The following importers - Kyrgyzstan (X units) and Mongolia (X units) - each resulted at an 8.1% share of total imports.

In value terms, the largest container importing markets in Central Asia were Kazakhstan ($X), Uzbekistan ($X) and Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a combined 94% share of total imports.

Among the main importing countries, Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +60.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
