After six years of growth, the Central Asian test bench market decreased by -7.9% to $X in 2022. In general, consumption, however, showed a prominent expansion. Over the period under review, the market reached the peak level at $X in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

Kazakhstan dominates exports structure, finishing at X units, which was near 93% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X units), generating a 6.7% share of total exports.

Kazakhstan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the test benches exports, with a CAGR of -4.0% from 2012 to 2022. Uzbekistan (-14.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Kazakhstan (+32 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Uzbekistan (-8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the largest test bench supplier in Central Asia, comprising 87% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 9.2% share of total exports.

In Kazakhstan, test bench exports decreased by an average annual rate of -5.2% over the period from 2012-2022.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Central Asia stood at $X per unit in 2022, waning by -27.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a mild decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 175%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2021 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per unit), while Kazakhstan totaled $X per unit.

Imports in Central Asia

In 2022, overseas purchases of test benches decreased by -21.9% to X units, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, imports, however, saw a moderate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 200%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, test bench imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a pronounced increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 137% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Uzbekistan was the largest importing country with an import of about X units, which amounted to 60% of total imports. Kazakhstan (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 29% share, followed by Turkmenistan (7%). Kyrgyzstan (X units) took a minor share of total imports.

Uzbekistan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the test benches imports, with a CAGR of +5.4% from 2012 to 2022. Turkmenistan (-3.0%), Kazakhstan (-4.0%) and Kyrgyzstan (-16.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Uzbekistan increased by +60 percentage points.

In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported test benches in Central Asia, comprising 57% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 26% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkmenistan, with a 16% share.
