Exports in Central Asia

For the fourth year in a row, Central Asia recorded decline in overseas shipments of tyres for aircraft, which decreased by -17.8% to X units in 2021. In general, exports saw a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 81% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, aircraft tyre exports surged to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a modest increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports decreased by -7.2% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when exports increased by 66% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Mongolia dominates exports structure, amounting to X units, which was approx. 87% of total exports in 2021. Kazakhstan (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Tajikistan (X units). All these countries together held approx. 12% share of total exports. Kyrgyzstan (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Mongolia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the tyres for aircraft exports, with a CAGR of +33.0% from 2012 to 2021. Tajikistan (-18.5%), Kazakhstan (-20.9%) and Kyrgyzstan (-40.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Mongolia increased by +84 percentage points.

In value terms, Mongolia ($X) remains the largest aircraft tyre supplier in Central Asia, comprising 79% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Tajikistan ($X), with a 20% share of total exports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with a 0.8% share.

In Mongolia, aircraft tyre exports increased at an average annual rate of +16.5% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Tajikistan (+0.3% per year) and Kazakhstan (-27.0% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 83% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a prominent expansion. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Tajikistan ($X per unit), while Kazakhstan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Tajikistan (+23.1%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

In 2021, aircraft tyre imports in Central Asia skyrocketed to X units, rising by 36% on the year before. Overall, imports, however, showed a abrupt slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 60%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, aircraft tyre imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a perceptible downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 66%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Kazakhstan (X units) represented the main importer of tyres for aircraft, creating 59% of total imports. Uzbekistan (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 13% share, followed by Mongolia (11%), Kyrgyzstan (8.4%) and Turkmenistan (7.8%).

Kazakhstan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the tyres for aircraft imports, with a CAGR of +1.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Mongolia (+1.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Kyrgyzstan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Uzbekistan (-10.7%) and Turkmenistan (-18.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Kazakhstan, Mongolia and Kyrgyzstan increased by +27, +4.8 and +3 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported tyres for aircraft in Central Asia, comprising 60% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Mongolia, with a 12% share.

In Kazakhstan, aircraft tyre imports increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Uzbekistan (-10.8% per year) and Mongolia (+6.3% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Central Asia amounted to $X per unit, picking up by 4.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in Mongolia ($X per unit) and Kazakhstan ($X per unit), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per unit) and Turkmenistan ($X per unit) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mongolia (+5.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
