In 2021, overseas purchases of toilet and kitchen linen decreased by -14.9% to X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 70% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, toilet and kitchen linen imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 62%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Kazakhstan dominates imports structure, accounting for X units, which was approx. 87% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Mongolia (X units), making up a 6.1% share of total imports. Kyrgyzstan (X units) held a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to toilet and kitchen linen imports into Kazakhstan stood at +7.0%. At the same time, Mongolia (+36.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Mongolia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +36.4% from 2012-2021. From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Kazakhstan totaled +14.5%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Mongolia (+24.7% per year) and Kyrgyzstan (-19.5% per year).
