Exports by Country
Kazakhstan was the main exporter of tomato puree and paste in Central Asia, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was approx. 63% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Kyrgyzstan (X tons), committing a 34% share of total exports. Uzbekistan (X tons) held a little share of total exports.

In 2022, the amount of tomato puree and paste imported in Central Asia surged to X tons, rising by 21% on the year before. Total imports indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -3.2% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 55% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, tomato puree imports soared to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +69.5% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Kazakhstan represented the main importer of tomato puree and paste in Central Asia, with the volume of imports resulting at X tons, which was near 78% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X tons), constituting a 13% share of total imports. The following importers - Kyrgyzstan (X tons), Mongolia (X tons) and Tajikistan (X tons) - together made up 9.3% of total imports.
Kazakhstan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of tomato puree and paste. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+8.6%), Tajikistan (+8.6%), Mongolia (+7.6%) and Kyrgyzstan (+1.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +8.6% from 2012-2022. While the share of Uzbekistan (+13 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Kazakhstan (-14.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported tomato puree and paste in Central Asia, comprising 83% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Uzbekistan ($X), with an 8.4% share of total imports. It was followed by Kyrgyzstan, with a 3.7% share.
In Kazakhstan, tomato puree imports increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uzbekistan (+20.5% per year) and Kyrgyzstan (+1.7% per year).
