Over the period under review, exports saw a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 2,598%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

In value terms, tufted carpet exports rose markedly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports enjoyed a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 836% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Uzbekistan dominates exports structure, resulting at X square meters, which was approx. 97% of total exports in 2022. Kazakhstan (X square meters) took a relatively small share of total exports.

In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X) remains the largest tufted carpet supplier in Central Asia, comprising 88% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 12% share of total exports.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -22.1% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 53% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X square meters. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Total imports indicated a slight increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +64.5% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 48%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, Kazakhstan (X square meters) was the major importer of tufted carpets and other tufted textile floor coverings, achieving 53% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Kyrgyzstan (X square meters), Mongolia (X square meters), Uzbekistan (X square meters) and Tajikistan (X square meters), together generating a 45% share of total imports. Turkmenistan (X square meters) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Imports into Kazakhstan increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Tajikistan (+13.8%), Uzbekistan (+11.5%) and Kyrgyzstan (+10.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Tajikistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +13.8% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Mongolia (-11.3%) and Turkmenistan (-18.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan increased by +21, +11, +8.5 and +3.7 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported tufted carpets and other tufted textile floor coverings in Central Asia, comprising 56% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Mongolia ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Uzbekistan, with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Kazakhstan amounted to +6.9%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Mongolia (-8.2% per year) and Uzbekistan (+12.7% per year).

In 2022, the import price in Central Asia amounted to $X per square meter, remaining constant against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the import price increased by 33%. The level of import peaked at $X per square meter in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Tajikistan ($X per square meter), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mongolia (+3.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
