After two years of growth, overseas purchases of spectacle lenses of glass or other materials decreased by -30.9% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 130% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then contracted notably in the following year.
In value terms, spectacle glass lenses imports declined remarkably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a buoyant expansion. Turkmenistan (-8.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period.
