Textile wadding exports skyrocketed to X tons in 2021, with an increase of 38% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, exports saw strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 53%. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, textile wadding exports soared to $X in 2021. In general, exports saw resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 59% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Uzbekistan prevails in exports structure, reaching X tons, which was approx. 97% of total exports in 2021. Kazakhstan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to textile wadding exports from Uzbekistan stood at +21.6%. At the same time, Kazakhstan (+26.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kazakhstan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +26.0% from 2012-2021. While the share of Uzbekistan (+14 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X) remains the largest textile wadding supplier in Central Asia, comprising 93% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 4.9% share of total exports.
In Uzbekistan, textile wadding exports expanded at an average annual rate of +20.0% over the period from 2012-2021.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, declining by -11.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 13%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Uzbekistan amounted to $X per ton.

Imports in Central Asia
In 2021, the amount of wadding of textile materials and articles thereof imported in Central Asia soared to X tons, surging by 39% against 2020 figures. Over the period under review, imports recorded a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 145%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, textile wadding imports shrank to $X in 2021. In general, imports recorded a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 43% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2020, and then reduced in the following year.
Imports by Country
Kazakhstan (X tons) and Kyrgyzstan (X tons) dominates imports structure, together creating 81% of total imports. Uzbekistan (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 9.5% share, followed by Tajikistan (5.4%). Mongolia (X tons) took a little share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Tajikistan (with a CAGR of +33.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest textile wadding importing markets in Central Asia were Kazakhstan ($X), Uzbekistan ($X) and Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a combined 93% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Mongolia and Tajikistan, which together accounted for a further 5.9%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Tajikistan, with a CAGR of +18.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -28.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 24%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+1.8%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
