Exports from Kyrgyzstan increased at an average annual rate of +288.5% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+412.3%) and Kazakhstan (+6.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +412.3% from 2012-2022. Kyrgyzstan (+81 p.p.) and Uzbekistan (+13 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Kazakhstan saw its share reduced by -93.3% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, Kyrgyzstan ($X) remains the largest whey supplier in Central Asia, comprising 67% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 19% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Kyrgyzstan amounted to +234.9%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kazakhstan (+12.0% per year) and Uzbekistan (+244.4% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, surging by 3.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a deep setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the export price increased by 70% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports in Central Asia
In 2022, the amount of whey imported in Central Asia expanded remarkably to X tons, with an increase of 5.8% against 2021 figures. Overall, imports enjoyed a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 48%. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Imports by Country
Kazakhstan (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons) prevails in imports structure, together comprising 84% of total imports. Kyrgyzstan (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 7.4% share, followed by Turkmenistan (5.7%). Tajikistan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Tajikistan (with a CAGR of +39.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X), Uzbekistan ($X) and Kyrgyzstan ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together accounting for 93% of total imports. Turkmenistan and Tajikistan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 6.7%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Tajikistan, with a CAGR of +36.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 5.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a perceptible descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the import price increased by 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Turkmenistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
