For the third year in a row, Central Asia recorded growth in shipments abroad of windows, french windows and their frames of wood, which increased by 9.3% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, exports showed a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 429%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, wooden window exports expanded remarkably to $X in 2021. Overall, exports posted a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 555%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
In 2021, Kazakhstan (X tons) was the key exporter of windows, french windows and their frames of wood, making up 72% of total exports. Mongolia (X tons) held a 23% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Uzbekistan (5.4%).
Kazakhstan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the windows, french windows and their frames of wood exports, with a CAGR of +26.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Mongolia (+12.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Uzbekistan (-7.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The export price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, almost unchanged from the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the export price increased by 43%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2021, the the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per ton), while Mongolia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+3.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Central Asia
In 2021, purchases abroad of windows, french windows and their frames of wood increased by 4.3% to X tons, rising for the fourth consecutive year after four years of decline. Overall, imports, however, showed a slight reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 79%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, wooden window imports shrank to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a mild curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 90% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Kazakhstan dominates imports structure, finishing at X tons, which was approx. 77% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Tajikistan (X tons), mixing up a 9.3% share of total imports. Kyrgyzstan (X tons), Turkmenistan (X tons), Uzbekistan (X tons) and Mongolia (X tons) took a little share of total imports.
Imports into Kazakhstan decreased at an average annual rate of -2.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (+32.2%), Tajikistan (+25.5%) and Uzbekistan (+17.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kyrgyzstan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +32.2% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Mongolia (-5.5%) and Turkmenistan (-12.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Tajikistan (+8.3 p.p.), Kyrgyzstan (+4 p.p.) and Uzbekistan (+2.4 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Kazakhstan (-6.5 p.p.) and Turkmenistan (-7.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported windows, french windows and their frames of wood in Central Asia, comprising 82% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a 5.9% share of total imports. It was followed by Uzbekistan, with a 3.7% share.
In Kazakhstan, wooden window imports declined by an average annual rate of -1.7% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kyrgyzstan (+21.8% per year) and Uzbekistan (+13.6% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, with a decrease of -9.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern.
