Over the period under review, imports enjoyed significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 75%. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
In value terms, imports of wood pulp, excluding mechanical wood pulp soared to $X in 2022. Overall, imports saw a significant expansion. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Uzbekistan was the major importing country with an import of about X tons, which recorded 66% of total imports. Kazakhstan (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Mongolia (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 32% share of total imports. Turkmenistan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Uzbekistan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the wood pulp, excluding mechanical wood pulp imports, with a CAGR of +68.3% from 2012 to 2022. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 26% share of total imports. It was followed by Mongolia, with a 4.9% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Uzbekistan totaled +65.2%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kazakhstan (+10.9% per year) and Mongolia (+37.5% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, rising by 20% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.7%.
