From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, wooden office furniture exports dropped dramatically to $X in 2021. In general, exports continue to indicate a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 3,846%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
In 2021, Kazakhstan (X units) was the key exporter of wooden furniture of a kind used in offices, making up 59% of total exports. Uzbekistan (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 28% share, followed by Turkmenistan (6.3%). Mongolia (X units) held a little share of total exports.
Exports from Kazakhstan increased at an average annual rate of +18.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Mongolia (+41.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Mongolia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +41.0% from 2012-2021. Turkmenistan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Uzbekistan (-64.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Uzbekistan (+28 p.p.), Kazakhstan (+7.5 p.p.), Turkmenistan (+6.3 p.p.) and Mongolia (+3.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) emerged as the largest wooden office furniture supplier in Central Asia, comprising 70% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 23% share of total exports. It was followed by Turkmenistan, with a 4.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Kazakhstan amounted to +20.8%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uzbekistan (-68.0% per year) and Turkmenistan (+12.9% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Central Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, declining by -67.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, enjoyed a measured increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the export price increased by 384% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per unit), while Mongolia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+2.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 59%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, wooden office furniture imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a abrupt decline. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Kazakhstan was the major importing country with an import of around X units, which reached 56% of total imports. Turkmenistan (X units) took a 14% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Uzbekistan (13%) and Mongolia (12%). Tajikistan (X units) and Kyrgyzstan (X units) held a little share of total imports.
Imports into Kazakhstan decreased at an average annual rate of -4.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+15.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +15.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Mongolia (-4.9%), Tajikistan (-11.4%), Turkmenistan (-13.3%) and Kyrgyzstan (-19.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Uzbekistan (+13 p.p.) and Kazakhstan (+8.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Tajikistan (-2.4 p.p.), Kyrgyzstan (-4.7 p.p.) and Turkmenistan (-15.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
