The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 147%. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, x-ray apparatus exports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed a slight increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when exports increased by 204%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Kazakhstan (X units) and Uzbekistan (X units) dominates exports structure, together constituting 92% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Mongolia (X units), comprising an 8.1% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Uzbekistan (with a CAGR of +21.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the largest x-ray apparatus supplier in Central Asia, comprising 71% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 26% share of total exports.

In Kazakhstan, x-ray apparatus exports contracted by an average annual rate of -1.5% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Uzbekistan (+21.4% per year) and Mongolia (+5.3% per year).

Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 249% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, x-ray apparatus imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 141%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Imports by Country

Kazakhstan was the major importing country with an import of about X units, which amounted to 62% of total imports. Uzbekistan (X units) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Kyrgyzstan (X units) and Mongolia (X units). All these countries together took approx. 34% share of total imports. The following importers - Turkmenistan (X units) and Tajikistan (X units) - each finished at a 4% share of total imports.

Imports into Kazakhstan increased at an average annual rate of +14.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Mongolia (+16.0%), Uzbekistan (+14.6%), Kyrgyzstan (+11.5%) and Tajikistan (+10.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Mongolia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +16.0% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Turkmenistan (-10.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan increased by +19 and +3.9 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported x-ray apparatus in Central Asia, comprising 68% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkmenistan, with a 6.1% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Kazakhstan amounted to +13.5%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uzbekistan (-8.0% per year) and Turkmenistan (-0.3% per year).
