Almond Market Size in Chile

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 51% against the previous year. As a result, production attained the peak level of $X, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.
The average yield of almonds in Chile shrank slightly to X tons per ha in 2021, almost unchanged from the previous year. The yield figure increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 7.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average almond yield hit record highs at X tons per ha in 2020, and then declined modestly in the following year. Exports from Chile
In 2021, approx. X tons of almonds were exported from Chile; picking up by 56% on the previous year. Over the period under review, exports, however, faced a sharp downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 401%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, almond exports rose remarkably to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, recorded a sharp descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 430% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
India (X tons), Austria (X tons) and Spain (X tons) were the main destinations of almond exports from Chile, together comprising 55% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in India (with a CAGR of +25.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, the largest markets for almond exported from Chile were Austria ($X), Spain ($X) and India ($X), together accounting for 53% of total exports. These countries were followed by Turkey, Italy, the United Arab Emirates, Belarus, Argentina, Russia and Brazil, which together accounted for a further 42%.
Among the main countries of destination, Belarus, with a CAGR of 0.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average almond export price amounted to $X per ton, waning by -32.4% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a slight expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the average export price increased by 39% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Argentina ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Azerbaijan (+33.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Chile
In 2021, overseas purchases of almonds increased by 542% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after three years of decline. In general, imports posted a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 885% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, almond imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 848% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
In 2021, the United States (X tons) was the main supplier of almond to Chile, with a 95% share of total imports. Moreover, almond imports from the United States exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Spain (X tons), more than tenfold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from the United States amounted to +9.9%.
In value terms, the United States ($X) constituted the largest supplier of almond to Chile, comprising 94% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Spain ($X), with a 6.3% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from the United States stood at +8.7%.
Import Prices by Country
The average almond import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, flattening at the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a slight contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 51% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per ton), while the price for the United States amounted to $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (-1.1%).
