Spain (X tons), Bolivia (X tons) and Peru (X tons) were the main destinations of base metal closure exports from Chile, together comprising 46% of total exports. These countries were followed by Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Ecuador, the United States, Colombia, Costa Rica and Venezuela, which together accounted for a further 51%.

Over the period under review, imports saw prominent growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 35% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.
In value terms, base metal closure imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +57.2% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Brazil (X tons), Paraguay (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main suppliers of base metal closure imports to Chile, with a combined 56% share of total imports.
