The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +57.1% against 2017 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, chicken meat exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, exports recorded a buoyant increase. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
The United States (X tons), Mexico (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main destinations of chicken meat exports from Chile, with a combined 68% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Anguilla, Peru, the Philippines, the Netherlands, Hong Kong SAR and the UK, which together accounted for a further 26%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +13.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United States ($X) remains the key foreign market for chicken meat exports from Chile, comprising 46% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Mexico ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Anguilla, with a 15% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to the United States amounted to +16.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Mexico (+6.8% per year) and Anguilla (+18.3% per year).

The average chicken meat export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 41% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.6%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Hong Kong SAR ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Anguilla (+21.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, purchases abroad of chicken meat was finally on the rise to reach X tons after three years of decline. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by 24% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Overall, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, Brazil (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of chicken meat to Chile, with a 61% share of total imports. Moreover, chicken meat imports from Brazil exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X tons), twofold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Brazil amounted to +26.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+6.2% per year) and Argentina (-5.6% per year).
In value terms, Brazil ($X) constituted the largest supplier of chicken meat to Chile, comprising 71% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United States ($X), with a 14% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Brazil stood at +26.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+1.7% per year) and Argentina (-6.9% per year).
