Coffee Extract Market Size in Chile

In 2021, the Chilean coffee extract market decreased by -4% to $X for the first time since 2011, thus ending a nine-year rising trend. In general, consumption, however, posted strong growth. Coffee extract consumption peaked at $X in 2020, and then reduced slightly in the following year.

Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average export price increased by 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2020, and then fell in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Canada ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Venezuela ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Peru (+6.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the amount of coffee extracts, essences and concentrates imported into Chile surged to X tons, rising by 45% compared with 2020. In general, imports saw a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 46%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, coffee extract imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate prominent growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, Brazil (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of coffee extract to Chile, with a 43% share of total imports. Moreover, coffee extract imports from Brazil exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the UK (X tons), threefold. Vietnam, with a CAGR of +152.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average coffee extract import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 13% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per ton), while the price for the United States ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
