The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +80.7% against 2019 indices. The exports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The United States (X tons) was the main destination for concentrated apple juice exports from Chile, with a 66% share of total exports. Moreover, concentrated apple juice exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Japan (X tons), eightfold. The UK (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 6.4% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to the United States totaled +10.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Japan (+3.1% per year) and the UK (-0.6% per year).

In value terms, the United States ($X) remains the key foreign market for concentrated apple juice exports from Chile, comprising 66% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Japan ($X), with an 8.4% share of total exports. It was followed by the UK, with a 6.3% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to the United States amounted to +6.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Japan (-0.7% per year) and the UK (-5.2% per year).

Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a perceptible setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 21% against the previous year. Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. Imports into Chile

In 2021, concentrated apple juice imports into Chile soared to X tons, growing by 76% against 2020 figures. Overall, imports continue to indicate prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 111% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, concentrated apple juice imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw buoyant growth. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Vietnam (X tons), Argentina (X tons) and Austria (X tons) were the main suppliers of concentrated apple juice imports to Chile, with a combined 82% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Vietnam (with a CAGR of +4,890.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Vietnam ($X), Argentina ($X) and Taiwan (Chinese) ($X) were the largest concentrated apple juice suppliers to Chile, with a combined 77% share of total imports.

Vietnam, with a CAGR of +4,401.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average concentrated apple juice import price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 11% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 67%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per ton), while the price for Peru ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
