Ink Market Size in Chile

The Chilean ink market skyrocketed to $X in 2021, picking up by 73% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). In 2021, overseas shipments of inks (excluding printing ink) were finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2016, thus ending a four-year declining trend. Mexico (X tons), Uruguay (X tons) and Bolivia (X kg) were the main destinations of ink exports from Chile, with a combined 94% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Mexico (with a CAGR of +127.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Mexico ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for inks (excluding printing ink) exports from Chile, comprising 59% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uruguay ($X), with a 26% share of total exports. It was followed by Bolivia, with an 8.9% share.

In 2021, purchases abroad of inks (excluding printing ink) increased by 69% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Overall, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 108%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, ink imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports showed a prominent expansion. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of ink to Chile, with a 65% share of total imports. Moreover, ink imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Peru (X tons), fivefold. The United States (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 10% share.
