Bolivia (X tons) was the main destination for malt exports from Chile, with a 63% share of total exports. Moreover, malt exports to Bolivia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Argentina (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Peru (X tons), with an 8.4% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Bolivia stood at +83.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Argentina (+263.9% per year) and Peru (-33.2% per year).

Imports into Chile

For the third consecutive year, Chile recorded growth in overseas purchases of malt (not roasted), which increased by 34% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 87% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

In value terms, malt imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports enjoyed a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 82% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
