Melon Market Size in Chile

From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, melon exports amounted to $X in 2022. In general, exports recorded a precipitous setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 1,167%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Spain (X kg), the Netherlands (X kg) and the United States (X kg) were the main destinations of melon exports from Chile, together comprising 59% of total exports. Russia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Canada, Germany, Austria, Ireland, France, Antigua and Barbuda and Luxembourg lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 27%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the Czech Republic (with a CAGR of +7.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 1,103% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, melon imports contracted rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 1,059% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.

In 2022, Brazil (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of melon to Chile, accounting for a 87% share of total imports. Moreover, melon imports from Brazil exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Peru (X tons), sixfold.
