In value terms, mixed condiment, sause and seasoning exports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a mild reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 33% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Peru (X tons) was the main destination for mixed condiment, sause and seasoning exports from Chile, accounting for a 59% share of total exports. Moreover, mixed condiment, sause and seasoning exports to Peru exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Bolivia (X tons), sixfold. Mexico (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 6.3% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Peru amounted to +14.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Bolivia (+22.3% per year) and Mexico (+3.6% per year).
In value terms, Peru ($X) remains the key foreign market for mixed condiments, sauses and seasonings exports from Chile, comprising 58% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Bolivia ($X), with a 10% share of total exports. It was followed by Mexico, with a 6.9% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Peru amounted to +16.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Bolivia (+21.5% per year) and Mexico (-4.6% per year).

Imports into Chile
In 2022, supplies from abroad of mixed condiments, sauses and seasonings decreased by -8.8% to X tons for the first time since 2016, thus ending a five-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, recorded a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 30%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then declined in the following year.
In value terms, mixed condiment, sause and seasoning imports dropped to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 36% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then shrank in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, the United States (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of mixed condiment, sause and seasoning to Chile, with a 70% share of total imports. Moreover, mixed condiment, sause and seasoning imports from the United States exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Peru (X tons), eightfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Argentina (X tons), with a 5.1% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from the United States amounted to +11.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Peru (+28.7% per year) and Argentina (-15.7% per year).
In value terms, the United States ($X) constituted the largest supplier of mixed condiments, sauses and seasonings to Chile, comprising 64% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Peru ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Uruguay, with a 3.7% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from the United States totaled +13.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Peru (+34.4% per year) and Uruguay (+52.1% per year).

The average import price for mixed condiments, sauses and seasonings stood at $X per ton in 2022, remaining constant against the previous year.
