Memories Market Size in Chile
The Chilean memories market surged to $X in 2021, growing by 19% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a pronounced curtailment. Memories consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

Exports from Chile
In 2021, overseas shipments of multichip integrated circuits: memories increased by 349% to X units, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, exports, however, saw a noticeable descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 355%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, memories exports dropped significantly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, showed a deep slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 294%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Malaysia (X units) was the main destination for memories exports from Chile, accounting for a 89% share of total exports. Moreover, memories exports to Malaysia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Peru (X units), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by the United States (X units), with a 3% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Malaysia stood at +115.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Peru (-12.6% per year) and the United States (-20.5% per year).
In value terms, Peru ($X) remains the key foreign market for multichip integrated circuits: memories exports from Chile, comprising 79% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United States ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by Malaysia, with a 2.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Peru totaled -9.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (-22.8% per year) and Malaysia (+11.9% per year).

In 2021, the average memories export price amounted to $X per unit, waning by -93.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price faced a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the average export price increased by 150% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2020, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bolivia ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Taiwan (Chinese) (+41.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Chile
In 2021, approx. X units of multichip integrated circuits: memories were imported into Chile; rising by 19% compared with 2020 figures. Overall, imports, however, recorded a abrupt decline. Imports peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, memories imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a mild reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 52% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
China (X units), Mexico (X units) and Taiwan (Chinese) (X units) were the main suppliers of memories imports to Chile, with a combined 65% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Mexico (with a CAGR of +74.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($X), Mexico ($X) and Malaysia ($X) constituted the largest memories suppliers to Chile, with a combined 74% share of total imports.
Mexico, with a CAGR of +69.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average memories import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, growing by 2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, memories import price decreased by -1.9% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 51% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per unit), while the price for Hong Kong SAR ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
