Orange Market Size in Chile

The Chilean orange market skyrocketed to $X in 2022, growing by 63% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Orange consumption peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The United States (X tons) was the main destination for orange exports from Chile, accounting for a 91% share of total exports. It was followed by the Dominican Republic (X tons), with a 1.9% share of total exports. The third position in this ranking was taken by Ecuador (X tons), with a 1.8% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to the United States stood at +3.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Dominican Republic (+27.0% per year) and Ecuador (+4.8% per year).

After two years of growth, supplies from abroad of oranges decreased by -47.1% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a notable expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 77% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then fell sharply in the following year.

In value terms, orange imports fell rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 91% against the previous year.
