China (X tons) was the main destination for plum and sloe exports from Chile, accounting for a 43% share of total exports. Moreover, plum and sloe exports to China exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United States (X tons), fivefold. Brazil (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 7.6% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to China stood at +25.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (-2.0% per year) and Brazil (-1.8% per year).

The average plum and sloe export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. In 2022, imports of plums and sloes into Chile shrank markedly to X tons, dropping by -64.7% against the previous year. Overall, imports, however, showed significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 818%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, plum and sloe imports fell sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 601%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.
