The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. Brazil (X tons), the United States (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the main suppliers of polyurethanes imports to Chile, together comprising 55% of total imports. These countries were followed by Germany, Spain, Mexico, Austria, the UK, China, South Korea, France and Taiwan (Chinese), which together accounted for a further 37%.

In 2021, the average polyurethanes import price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 15% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a slight decrease. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per ton), while the price for Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
