Organic Pigments Market Size in Chile

In 2021, the Chilean organic pigments market decreased by -1.2% to $X for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, the total consumption indicated slight growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the last nine-year period. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

In value terms, organic pigments exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, total exports indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +72.7% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 34%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

El Salvador, with a CAGR of +29.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average organic pigments export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, reducing by -16.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a perceptible downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the average export price increased by 13% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bolivia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Peru ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In general, total imports indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +69.5% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 31%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, organic pigments imports reduced modestly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 27%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then reduced in the following year.

China (X tons), India (X tons) and Brazil (X tons) were the main suppliers of organic pigments imports to Chile, with a combined 49% share of total imports.
