In value terms, non-mineral or non-aerated water exports shrank dramatically to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 2,930%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
New Zealand (X litres), China (X litres) and the United States (X litres) were the main destinations of non-mineral or non-aerated water exports from Chile, with a combined 77% share of total exports. Canada, Belgium, France and Peru lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 23%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Peru (with a CAGR of +33.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, New Zealand ($X), China ($X) and the United States ($X) constituted the largest markets for non-mineral or non-aerated water exported from Chile worldwide, together accounting for 84% of total exports. Belgium, France, Canada and Peru lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 16%.
France, with a CAGR of +43.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a noticeable setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by 871%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per litre. From 2015 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per litre), while the average price for exports to Peru ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Qatar (+95.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Non-Mineral or Non-Aerated Waters
Imports into Chile
In 2021, overseas purchases of non-mineral or non-aerated waters increased by 265% to X litres for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, imports saw strong growth. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X litres in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, non-mineral or non-aerated water imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports posted a strong increase. Imports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2021, South Korea (X litres) constituted the largest supplier of non-mineral or non-aerated water to Chile, with a 59% share of total imports. Moreover, non-mineral or non-aerated water imports from South Korea exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X litres), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by France (X litres), with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from South Korea stood at +13.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+7.8% per year) and France (+43.1% per year).
In value terms, France ($X), South Korea ($X) and the United States ($X) constituted the largest non-mineral or non-aerated water suppliers to Chile, with a combined 86% share of total imports. Paraguay lagged somewhat behind, accounting for a further 5.2%.
Paraguay, with a CAGR of +28.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average non-mineral or non-aerated water import price amounted to $X per litre, declining by -31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, enjoyed a perceptible increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average import price increased by 114%. The import price peaked at $X per litre in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per litre), while the price for the United States ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+9.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
