In value terms, Italy ($X) remains the key foreign market for yarn of wool exports from Chile, comprising 62% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by the United States, with a 4.9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Italy amounted to +27.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Turkey (+174.4% per year) and the United States (-35.3% per year).

In 2021, the amount of yarn of wool imported into Chile soared to X tons, jumping by 85% compared with the year before. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 131% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, woolen yarn imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a slight decrease. In 2021, India (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of woolen yarn to Chile, with a 48% share of total imports. Moreover, woolen yarn imports from India exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Peru (X tons), threefold. China (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 17% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from India stood at -2.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Peru (+11.2% per year) and China (+11.8% per year).

In value terms, India ($X) constituted the largest supplier of yarn of wool to Chile, comprising 43% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Peru ($X), with an 18% share of total imports. It was followed by China, with a 13% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from India amounted to +2.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Peru (+9.2% per year) and China (+3.8% per year).

The average woolen yarn import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, reducing by -6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
