In 2020, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in the Chinese alcohols market, when its value decreased by -X% to $X. In general, the total consumption indicated a notable increase from 2007 to 2020: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, exports attained the maximum in 2020 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

As a result, exports reached the peak of $X. from 2019 to 2020, the growth exports failed to regain the momentum.

Indonesia (X tons), South Korea (X tons) and India (X tons) were the main destinations of alcohols exports from China, together comprising X% of total exports. Thailand, Russia, Belgium, Malaysia, Vietnam, the Netherlands, the U.S., Japan, Brazil and Turkey lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in Turkey, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for alcohols exported from China were India ($X), South Korea ($X) and Indonesia ($X), with a combined X% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the U.S., Japan, Thailand, the Netherlands, Russia, Malaysia, Brazil, Belgium, Vietnam and Turkey, which together accounted for a further X saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

These countries were followed by Taiwan (Chinese), New Zealand, Singapore, Canada, Trinidad and Tobago, Malaysia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia and South Korea, which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in the United Arab Emirates (+X% per year), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Saudi Arabia was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Iran (+X% per year) and Taiwan (Chinese) (-X% per year).

In 2020, the average alcohols import price amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2020, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton), while the price for Trinidad and Tobago ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
