The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 35%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Australia (X tons), Singapore (X tons) and Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) were the main destinations of anti-freezing preparations exports from China, with a combined 47% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the Philippines, the United States, Hong Kong SAR, Japan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Indonesia, Vietnam and South Korea, which together accounted for a further 39%.

Over the period under review, export price indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the average export price increased by 38% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into China

In 2021, imports of anti-freezing preparations and prepared de-icing fluids into China dropped to X tons, falling by -5.4% against the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -36.7% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 55% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, anti-freezing preparations imports contracted to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 26%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Germany (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main suppliers of anti-freezing preparations imports to China, together accounting for 80% of total imports. These countries were followed by Japan, South Korea and Australia, which together accounted for a further 14%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by South Korea (with a CAGR of +21.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X), Belgium ($X) and the United States ($X) constituted the largest anti-freezing preparations suppliers to China, together accounting for 82% of total imports. Japan, South Korea and Australia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 12%.

South Korea, with a CAGR of +18.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average anti-freezing preparations import price amounted to $X per ton, approximately mirroring the previous year. In general, the import price showed a slight reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 57% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for South Korea ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+9.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
