Antimony Market Size in China
The Chinese antimony market shrank to $X in 2022, which is down by -7.6% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, showed a deep downturn. Antimony consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Antimony Production in China
In value terms, antimony production reduced to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, saw a deep slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the production volume increased by 35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production reached the maximum level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, production failed to regain momentum.

Exports from China
In 2022, approx. X tons of antimony were exported from China; falling by -2% against 2021. Overall, exports, however, recorded a slight expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 184%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, antimony exports surged to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a mild expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 144% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
Exports by Country
The Netherlands (X tons), the United States (X tons) and Japan (X tons) were the main destinations of antimony exports from China, with a combined 68% share of total exports. South Korea, Belgium, India and Pakistan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 23%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by India (with a CAGR of +46.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for antimony exported from China were the Netherlands ($X), the United States ($X) and Japan ($X), together comprising 68% of total exports. South Korea, Belgium, India and Pakistan lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 23%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, India, with a CAGR of +46.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average antimony export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, surging by 29% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average export price increased by 75% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Belgium ($X per ton) and South Korea ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Pakistan ($X per ton) and India ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+0.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Antimony Imports
Imports into China
Antimony imports into China declined remarkably to X tons in 2022, waning by -33.4% against the previous year's figure. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 403% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, antimony imports rose modestly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 272%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2022, South Korea (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of antimony to China, with a 49% share of total imports. Moreover, antimony imports from South Korea exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Tajikistan (X tons), threefold. Vietnam (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 16% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from South Korea totaled +59.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Tajikistan (-36.9% per year) and Vietnam (+10.3% per year).
In value terms, the largest antimony suppliers to China were South Korea ($X), Tajikistan ($X) and Vietnam ($X), together accounting for 84% of total imports.
South Korea, with a CAGR of +95.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average antimony import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 54% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 102% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Tajikistan ($X per ton), while the price for Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Tajikistan (+36.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
