In 2021, the Chinese aramids staple market decreased by -28.1% to $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, consumption, however, enjoyed a remarkable increase. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2020, and then shrank markedly in the following year.

In value terms, aramids staple exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 57%. From 2017 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Aramids staple imports into China expanded to X tons in 2021, increasing by 4.8% on 2020 figures. In general, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -0.1% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 38% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.
