Basic Dye Market Size in China

The Chinese basic dye market rose modestly to $X in 2021, increasing by 4.8% against the previous year. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Turkey (X tons), Vietnam (X tons) and Pakistan (X tons) were the main destinations of basic dye exports from China, together comprising 41% of total exports. Taiwan (Chinese), Malaysia, India, South Korea, Iran, Thailand, Japan, Mexico, Italy and Bangladesh lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 41%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Malaysia (with a CAGR of +10.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Turkey ($X), Taiwan (Chinese) ($X) and India ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for basic dye exported from China worldwide, together accounting for 33% of total exports. Vietnam, Pakistan, Japan, South Korea, Iran, Thailand, Mexico, Italy, Bangladesh and Malaysia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 39%.

Vietnam, with a CAGR of +7.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average basic dye export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, waning by -10.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, basic dye export price decreased by -16.6% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 39%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into China

In 2021, the amount of basic dyes and preparations based thereon imported into China soared to X tons, growing by 28% compared with 2020 figures. Over the period under review, imports recorded a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 70%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, basic dye imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +90.4% against 2016 indices. In value terms, India ($X) constituted the largest supplier of basic dyes and preparations based thereon to China, comprising 53% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 22% share of total imports. It was followed by Japan, with a 9.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from India amounted to +21.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+13.3% per year) and Japan (-5.8% per year).

In 2021, the average basic dye import price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 2.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 18%.
