The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 19%. The exports peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, glass bottle, jar and container exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, exports recorded a resilient increase. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The United States (X units) was the main destination for glass bottle, jar and container exports from China, accounting for a 27% share of total exports. Moreover, glass bottle, jar and container exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Indonesia (X units), fourfold. Canada (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 5.2% share.

These countries were followed by Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Australia, the Philippines, India, Mexico, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand and Myanmar, which together accounted for a further 23%.
Among the main countries of destination, Myanmar, with a CAGR of +51.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for bottles, jars and other containers of glass stood at $X per unit in 2021, with an increase of 19% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the last nine-year period. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 64%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, glass bottle, jar and container imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, total imports indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +25.1% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 47%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Japan (X units) constituted the largest glass bottle, jar and container supplier to China, with a 36% share of total imports. Moreover, glass bottle, jar and container imports from Japan exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X units), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by France (X units), with an 11% share.

In 2021, the average import price for bottles, jars and other containers of glass amounted to $X per unit, rising by 15% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 24% against the previous year.
