Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, brassiere, girdle and corset exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The United States (X tons) was the main destination for brassiere, girdle and corset exports from China, with a 20% share of total exports. Moreover, brassiere, girdle and corset exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Vietnam (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Indonesia (X tons), with a 3.8% share.

Over the period under review, imports showed a prominent expansion. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, brassiere, girdle and corset imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports posted a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 42% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, Vietnam ($X) constituted the largest supplier of brassieres, girdles and corsets to China, comprising 62% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Sri Lanka ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Taiwan (Chinese), with a 7.3% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Vietnam stood at +37.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Sri Lanka (+22.7% per year) and Taiwan (Chinese) (+1.8% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average brassiere, girdle and corset import price amounted to $X per ton, declining by -10.3% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.6%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 19%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then fell in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
