The Chinese breathing appliances market amounted to $X in 2022, increasing by 6.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption showed a buoyant increase. Breathing appliances consumption peaked at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, after five years of growth, there was decline in supplies from abroad of breathing appliances and gas masks, when their volume decreased by -1.2% to X units. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 32% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X units in 2021, and then shrank slightly in the following year.

In value terms, breathing appliances imports expanded remarkably to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, enjoyed resilient growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 45%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

South Korea (X units), the United States (X units) and Singapore (X units) were the main suppliers of breathing appliances imports to China, together accounting for 65% of total imports. Canada, Japan, Poland, Mexico, the UK, Germany and France lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 31%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Poland (with a CAGR of +121.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United States ($X) constituted the largest supplier of breathing appliances and gas masks to China, comprising 34% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by South Korea ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by Singapore, with a 15% share.
