Bahrain, Thailand, Pakistan, Guatemala, Singapore and the Philippines lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 25%.

Overall, export price indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Imports into China
In 2022, purchases abroad of cheese and curd decreased by -17.4% to X tons for the first time since 2011, thus ending a ten-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, recorded a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 39%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then contracted notably in the following year.

In 2022, New Zealand (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of cheese and curd to China, accounting for a 58% share of total imports. Moreover, cheese and curd imports from New Zealand exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Australia (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Italy (X tons), with a 5.5% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from New Zealand amounted to +17.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Australia (+10.2% per year) and Italy (+27.1% per year).
In value terms, New Zealand ($X) constituted the largest supplier of cheese and curd to China, comprising 55% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Australia ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Italy, with a 6.4% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from New Zealand totaled +18.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Australia (+9.4% per year) and Italy (+23.4% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average cheese and curd import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, surging by 15% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a mild expansion. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from France ($X per ton) and Italy ($X per ton), while the price for Australia ($X per ton) and New Zealand ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
