In 2021, supplies from abroad of copper screws, bolts and nuts was finally on the rise to reach X tons after four years of decline. Overall, imports, however, showed a perceptible descent. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Japan (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of copper screw to China, with a 31% share of total imports. Moreover, copper screw imports from Japan exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by the United States (X tons), with a 3.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Japan amounted to -5.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (-3.9% per year) and the United States (-6.8% per year).
In value terms, the largest copper screw suppliers to China were Japan ($X), Germany ($X) and the United States ($X), together comprising 42% of total imports. These countries were followed by South Korea, France, the UK, Italy, Australia, Norway and Denmark, which together accounted for a further 9.3%.
In terms of the main suppliers, Australia, with a CAGR of +31.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average import price increased by 13% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the price for Norway ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
