Exports from China
In 2022, approx. X units of electrical insulators were exported from China; increasing by 16% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a pronounced contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 51%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, electrical insulator exports soared to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
The United States (X units), Brazil (X units) and Vietnam (X units) were the main destinations of electrical insulator exports from China, together comprising 47% of total exports. Indonesia, Chile, Australia, Algeria, Bolivia, Tanzania, Djibouti and India lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 25%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Djibouti (with a CAGR of +95.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United States ($X) remains the key foreign market for electrical insulators exports from China, comprising 20% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Brazil ($X), with a 5.2% share of total exports. It was followed by India, with a 3.5% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to the United States amounted to +1.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Brazil (+0.6% per year) and India (-14.4% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average electrical insulator export price amounted to $X per unit, surging by 6.2% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, electrical insulator export price increased by +17.8% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 39% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Bolivia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (+31.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Electrical Insulator Imports
Imports into China
In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of electrical insulators, when their volume decreased by -54.4% to X units. In general, imports, however, saw a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 8,088% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, electrical insulator imports fell sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a perceptible curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 66%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Italy (X units), Sweden (X units) and France (X units) were the main suppliers of electrical insulator imports to China, with a combined 92% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by France (with a CAGR of +56.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Sweden ($X) constituted the largest supplier of electrical insulators to China, comprising 26% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with a 10% share of total imports. It was followed by Japan, with a 7.4% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Sweden stood at -8.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+2.9% per year) and Japan (-9.8% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average electrical insulator import price amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 82% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, faced a sharp contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 3,817%. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per unit), while the price for Italy ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (-29.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
