Folding Boxboard Market Size in China

In 2021, after two years of growth, there was decline in the Chinese folding boxboard market, when its value decreased by -4.3% to $X. In general, consumption showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Folding boxboard consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 25%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

Sweden (X tons), India (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main suppliers of folding boxboard imports to China, together comprising 70% of total imports. South Korea, Taiwan (Chinese), Japan, Brazil, Vietnam, Egypt, New Zealand, Germany and Finland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 25%.

Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a pronounced reduction. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
