In general, imports, however, posted a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 121%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then shrank markedly in the following year.
In value terms, frozen pork cut imports shrank significantly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 180% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then fell significantly in the following year.
Imports by Country
Spain (X tons), Denmark (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main suppliers of frozen pork cut imports to China, together accounting for 55% of total imports. Canada, the Netherlands, Chile, the UK, Brazil, Ireland and France lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 41%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +49.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest frozen pork cut suppliers to China were Spain ($X), Denmark ($X) and the United States ($X), together comprising 56% of total imports. Canada, the Netherlands, Chile, the UK, Brazil, Ireland and France lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 41%.

In 2022, the average frozen pork cut import price amounted to $X per ton, declining by -18.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 27%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then dropped significantly in the following year.
